Stereolab - Aluminium Tunes [Switched On Volume 3]
Released: 01/12/23
Where most bands would struggle to fill one rarities' album of non-album tracks, the fact that, to-date, the sublime Anglo-French avant-pop group Stereolab have given us five such LPs, under the Switched On' moniker (an homage to the electronic music luminary Wendy Carlos's debut, Switched-On Bach) speaks volumes about the band's staggering wealth of imagination, and ceaseless quest for experimentation.
This spanking new remaster of number three in the set,Aluminium Tunes, first issued in 1998, compiles 25 hard-to-come-by tracks that includes music from a New York sculpture exhibition, tour only 7"s, contributions to samplers, promo items, and specials “ including the band's brilliant take on theGet Carter theme tune “ and a sublime Luke Vibert remix (under his Wagon Christ nom de plume) of Metronomic Underground'. Incredible stuff.
