Stimming x Lambert is the collaboration project of Hamburg based techno and electronic composer Martin Stimming, and Berlin based pianist and composer Lambert - this is the first new music from the duo since 2018’s mini-album, Exodus. The 11-track collection will be released by XXIM Records, the new imprint for post-genre instrumental music by Sony Masterworks. While both Stimming and Lambert have successful solo careers – they have a combined 900k monthly Spotify listeners and 120k Spotify followers across electronic and neo-classical audiences - they decided to join forces, melting a huge variety of influences into one adventurous, dark and playful electro-acoustic soundworld. On Positive, the duo left their “safe and cosy piano sound” behind, embracing lo-fi analogue synths, new rhythmic techniques, and a versatile understanding of synthesised sound to explore uncharted electro-acoustic territory. Taking three and a half years to complete, Positive is more ambitious, complex, extravagant and sophisticated than anything the pair have released before. With far broader horizons, it embraces multiple styles – among them electronica, ambient, jazz, downtempo, classical, the avant-garde, often simultaneously – voyaging into exotic, exhilarating territory, distinguished by Lambert’s remarkable melodies and Stimming’s meticulous production.
