Alpha Maid — the South East London guitarist, songwriter and producer also known as Leisha Thomas — presents Is this a queue, an album released by AD 93. Rooted in frustration with the rigid systems and narratives that shape daily life, the record finds inspiration in the mysteries of particle physics and the vast unknown that makes up most of the universe.
Written over several years and across multiple locations, the album maps a personal journey through shifting environments and encounters, gathering fragments of the present along the way. Thomas’ guitar serves as an anchor amid a range of influences — from dub and her Jamaican heritage to the emotional edge of early-2000s emo. Tracks like ‘On Smoke’ reveal her instinct for introspective songwriting, while others dissolve structure entirely in pursuit of possibility and presence.
