The record builds on the songwriter’s existential indie-rock style with biting satire, experimental flourishes, and a wry sense of humour. Lead single ‘The Swimmer’ surges with propulsive rhythms and a piercing synth line, following earlier track ‘I Don’t Know, Who Cares?’. Across the EP, Joyeria explores the messy corners of modern life — songs described as “little boxes of shadows and unexpected laughter… raw, like a skinned knee. Honest, in the way a chipped teacup holds the stain of too much tea.” Drawing on a life spanning Poland, Canada, and now London — “the city that swallows the unwanted, makes them its own peculiar ghost” — Graceful Degradation celebrates imperfection, finding meaning in broken edges and odd angles.
