Fragments is the debut solo album from Billy Fuller, co-founder and bassist of Beak>. Rather than a snapshot of a single moment, it draws together recordings made alone at home over several years. Compiled during a pause in Beak> activity, the 16 tracks reveal a shared atmosphere: patient, exploratory and instinct-led, like a carefully assembled cassette made for a friend.
Working entirely solo, Fuller shapes kosmiche-inflected electronics, motorik rhythms and skewed electro textures into something fluid and personal. Repetitive grooves pulse beneath hazy atmospheres, while spoken-word fragments drift through the mix like distant broadcasts. Occasional flashes of psychedelic guitar edge the music towards a hypnagogic strain of off-kilter pop.
Best known for anchoring Beak> with his bass-driven approach, Fuller has also worked extensively with Robert Plant, Massive Attack, Baxter Dury, Alicia Keys, Billy Nomates, Rachid Taha, Anika and Lucrecia Dalt. On Fragments, he strips everything back to first principles. It’s not built around singles or statements, but around process and persistence — a quietly assured collection from a musician driven by the simple act of making music.
