Originally released in 1987, the final album from Steve Albini's band of cheeky chappies, aside from being one of the most essential (and influential) industrial-rock albums of all time, is also one of the most pulverising, due in no small part to the absolutely brutal programmed drums and the sharp coruscating grind of Albini's aluminium guitar. It also contains some of the most unremittingly bleak liner notes ever committed to an inner sleeve: In general, someone is a thing of value if and only if he or she is willing to submit to whatever degradation and abuse is required to preserve that position. Anything less betrays a lack of commitment. Oh Albini, you big silly.
