Appearing in 2000 following an absence that had lasted eight years, Lovers Rock was the fifth studio album from British sophisti-pop star Sade. The saxophones and jazz accoutrements were gone, replaced by incredibly sparse arrangements built often on little more than an acoustic guitar. A change of direction, then, but a rewarding one, as it was received well at the time and performed strongly in the States. Featuring the singles ‘By Your Side’ and ‘King Of Sorrow’.
