Released as a non-album single in 1996 in between his self-titled second album and its highly acclaimed follow-up Either/Or, ‘Division Day’ is something of a transitional track for Elliott Smith, beloved by his fans and marking the start of a shift from the soft, almost whispered melancholia of his earliest solo work towards a wider, more full-band sound. Re-released with its original B-side ‘No Name #6’.
