Jonny Greenwood - One Battle After Another
Tax included.
Jonny Greenwood teams once more with director Paul Thomas Anderson for the soundtrack to One Battle After Another, a darkly comic action film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Regina Hall. Released on Nonesuch, the score has already drawn acclaim for its jagged intensity, described by the Guardian as “a jolting, jangling, nerve-shredding score” and by Variety as “a metronome of suspense.”
Greenwood performs across piano, guitar, bass, percussion, and ondes Martenot, joined by the London Contemporary Orchestra under Hugh Brunt. The eighteen compositions heighten the film’s tale of paranoia and fractured relationships, with Greenwood’s blend of classical rigour and avant-garde edge perfectly tuned to Anderson’s cinematic world.
This marks Greenwood’s sixth soundtrack collaboration with Anderson, following There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, Phantom Thread, and Junun. Beyond his role in Radiohead and The Smile, Greenwood has established himself as one of contemporary cinema’s most distinctive composers, with scores for The Power of the Dog, Norwegian Wood, and We Need to Talk About Kevin, alongside a body of acclaimed classical works. One Battle After Another further cements his reputation for marrying dissonance, beauty, and drama into unforgettable sound worlds.
