POPOL VUH FT. ML BUCH, JAMES K, LOREZO SENNI - THE GREAT ECSTASY OF WOODCARVER STEINER

Popol Vuh's previously unreleased score for Werner Herzog's 1974 documentary The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner finally sees the light of day. Following Swiss ski flyer Walter Steiner, the film features music from Florian Fricke's influential German collective, whose blend of spiritual folk, experimental rock and atmospheric instrumentation became synonymous with Herzog's cinema. Their collaborations also included Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Nosferatu and Fitzcarraldo. Alongside the original soundtrack are contemporary reinterpretations by James K, ML Buch and Lorenzo Senni, each offering a different perspective on Popol Vuh's otherworldly compositions.
