Following his release from Rusk State Hospital, Roky Erickson formed The Aliens and swapped the psychedelic garage rock of the 13th Floor Elevators for something heavier and stranger. Produced by Stu Cook, The Evil One combines jagged guitars and driving rhythms with Erickson’s tales of zombies, demons and atomic monsters. This expanded edition gathers the complete 1978–79 recordings, including ‘Two Headed Dog’, ‘I Walked With A Zombie’ and ‘It’s A Cold Night For Alligators’, alongside archival photographs and new notes by Austin journalist Joe Nick Patoski.
