The Cramps’ final studio album, Fiends of Dope Island, finds the rock ’n’ roll veterans in suitably unruly form. Self-produced and steeped in their trademark mix of rockabilly, blues and B-movie sleaze, it features the witchy ‘Big Black Witchcraft Rock’ and ‘Papa Satan Sang Louie’, alongside a warped take on exotica standard ‘Taboo’. ‘Dopefiend Boogie’ and ‘Wrong Way Ticket’ add further blues-fuelled mayhem to a fittingly unhinged farewell.
