Hakushi Hasegawa’s Honest Feeling Album is the Tokyo-based composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist’s second full-length release for Brainfeeder. Working with HaHa & The Hairpins as a backing band, Hasegawa brings greater scale and momentum to their restless blend of jazz, pop, J-rock and electronic experimentation.
Featuring collaborations with tofubeats, Lang Lee, Tsukino Mito and Accorinrin of Otoboke Beaver, the album moves between intricate arrangements, melodic songwriting and sudden shifts in pace. Lead track ‘The Owner of Sweetness’ sets the tone: a sweeping ballad where virtuosic playing and detailed production meet head-on.
