The third part of Jon Hassell’s Pentimento trilogy captures his final concert, performed in London in 2015 with Rick Cox and John von Seggern. Edited and mixed by Jeff Rona, the recording goes beyond a conventional live album, with themes and motifs from Listening To Pictures and Seeing Through Sound woven through its semi-improvised pieces. The album completes Hassell’s late-career Pentimento series, named after the artistic process of earlier images becoming visible beneath later work. Artwork comes from Hassell’s friend Mati Klarwein, famed for his sleeves for Miles Davis and Santana.
