Raised in a Jamaican household on the edge of the Florida Everglades, June McDoom draws on family, folk and dub throughout her debut album, Follow the Light. Recorded with longtime collaborator Evan Wright, the album combines layered harmonies, analogue production and understated arrangements, with influences including Dionne Warwick, Minnie Riperton, Pentangle and Cocteau Twins' Victorialand. Following tours with Clairo, Jessica Pratt and Brittany Howard, an NTS residency, and backing vocals on Big Thief's Double Infinity, McDoom introduces a distinctive sound that feels both intimate and timeless.
