Dreamhouse Records Best of 2021
There's probably loads that have been missed off here (just remembered the amazing Joy Orbison record, ooops), but here's the only best of year list you'll ever need...
1) Madlib – Sound Ancestors
The ever prolific hip-hop master collaborates with Four Tet for a masterful collection of genre-bending tracks. The most listened to record in the shop by far... it just keeps on giving with every listen.

5) Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & The London Symphony Orchestra – Promises
The most requested album in the shop by a country mile... Promises is a jaw-dropping collaboration between the much heralded jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, electronic pioneer Sam Shepherd and the LSO. If this has passed you by this year, then you might be missing out on some solid muso chat at the Christmas parties that we probably won't be having. Rectify immediately.

6) Emma-Jean Thackray - Yellow
More jazz sounds seeping into our consciousness, everything from the avant-garde to full straight-up dance anthems, we couldn't (and still can't) get enough.

7) Darkside – Spiral
Super duo Nicolás Jaar and Dave Harrington's dark and brooding slice of EDM is Goth and proud. I think that means we are too.

8) Little Simz – Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
The UK rapper's effortless flow finds its equal in the lush 70s-inspired and straight up epic tracks that make up her incendiary fourth album.

9) Mdou Moctar – Afrique Victime
No one does blistering, ecstatic psych rock quite like virtuosic Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar. Sublime.

10) FS Blumm & Nils Frahm – 2x1=4
Where Frahm's solo outings find more space than you knew existed, on 2x1=4, fun; and lots of bottom-end dub shaking are undoubtedly the top priority.
