Produced by Bob Shad and arranged by jazz veteran Ernie Wilkins, its expansive big-band backing provides the setting for Clark’s powerful, expressive voice. Long embraced by London’s jazz and funk scene, the album includes the enduring ‘Don’t You Care’ and ‘Never Did I Stop Loving You’, alongside a set of soulful songs that helped earn it comparisons with Aretha Franklin and Roberta Flack.
