In Roots Vibes brings together instrumental and dub recordings made by Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee between 1972 and 1992, with Augustus Pablo bringing his distinctive melodica sound to a selection of classic Jamaican riddims. Backed by The Aggrovators, the sessions were recorded at studios including Randy’s, Treasure Isle, Channel One and Harry J, with mixes from King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Phillip Smart and Pat Kelly. Drawing on rhythms associated with John Holt, Ken Boothe, Prince Buster and others, it’s a fine showcase for Pablo’s eerie, spiritual take on roots reggae and dub.
