Dewa Alit returns to Black Truffle with Baur Bentur, a collaboration between his Gamelan Salukat ensemble and virtuoso pianist Sri Hanuraga. Composed in 2024 and 2025, the album draws on Balinese gamelan while embracing new musical possibilities. The title translates as 'mixing and smashing', reflecting Alit's blend of Eastern and Western ideas. Intricate polyrhythms, shifting tempos and three overlapping tuning systems create music that is energetic, unpredictable and full of detail, with the piano woven seamlessly into the ensemble. Another bold and inventive release from one of contemporary gamelan's most original composers.
