Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Ella and Louis (Essential Vinyl Series)

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong joined forces for this 1956 Verve classic, backed by the Oscar Peterson Trio and drummer Buddy Rich. Fitzgerald’s elegant phrasing and Armstrong’s gravelly vocals and trumpet make a natural fit across standards including ‘They Can’t Take That Away from Me’, ‘Cheek to Cheek’, ‘The Nearness of You’ and ‘A Foggy Day’. The success of Ella and Louis led to two further collaborative albums and established one of jazz’s most celebrated partnerships.
