Erykah Badu & The Alchemist - Before the World Blows

Erykah Badu and The Alchemist unite on Before the World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment, recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles. The collaboration grew from Badu’s desire to rap over Alchemist’s production, with his warm, sample-heavy beats becoming raw material for her rhythmic and jazz-informed ideas. Moving through soul, blues, funk, rock and underground hip-hop, the record explores love, desire, grief, womanhood and identity. The pair developed the songs further through intimate live performances alongside Badu’s digital collective The Cannabinoids.
