Made up of two 20-minute pieces, Morning Side' and Evening Side', and originally released in 2015, Kieran Hebden's eighth album, which is finally getting a much-deserved reissue, conjures a truly beautiful sound world in which diffuse drifts of electronic tones mingle with skittering programmed drums. One of Hebden's many virtues is his use of recherché samples, and the excerpt of Lata Mangeshkar's Main Teri Chhoti Behana Hoon', which runs through Morning Side', is truly inspired, the late Indian icon's stunningly beautiful voice inspiring a feeling of ecstatic calm.
