Fucked Up’s Year of the Monkey is the second chapter in the Grass Can Move Stones trilogy, continuing the cosmic journey of Monkey and Good Goat through space, consciousness and time. Once again led by Damian Abraham and Tuka Mohammed, the album expands its world through a huge cast of guest vocalists, each bringing new characters to life across the story’s strange and shifting universe.
Contributors include figures from across punk and indie music, among them John Brannon, Walter Schreifels, Dan Bejar, Keith Morris, Jake Bannon and Annie-Claude Deschênes, who returns as Tiger from Year of the Tiger. True to Fucked Up form, the music and narrative are tightly woven together, with recurring themes and motifs feeding directly into the album’s intricate structure and ambitious storytelling.
