Be With Records present the first-ever vinyl reissue of Gap Mangione’s Diana In The Autumn Wind, a rare and much-coveted 1968 jazz-funk album long prized by collectors and hip-hop producers.
Far more than a sampling source, the record is a vibrant set of funky jazz led by Mangione’s piano, organ and electric piano. The trio is anchored by a young Tony Levin on bass and Steve Gadd on drums, whose inventive playing drives the album’s intricate grooves, while conga player Dhui Mandingo adds further rhythmic colour.
Arranged with help from Mangione’s brother Chuck Mangione, the music blends jazz, rock and Brazilian influences into a rich, cohesive sound. Produced with Gap Mangione’s full involvement, this long-awaited reissue brings an influential and elusive album back into circulation.
