Ghost Dubs, the project of producer Michael Fiedler, follows 2024's Damaged with second album Oblique. It's a darker and more cinematic set, built from murky electronics, distorted melodies, narcotic loops and traces of Jamaican dub. Opener 'Low Times' recalls Andy Stott and Basic Channel, while 'Soft Collapse', 'Blackout Dust' and 'Bombed Suburbs' move between buried pulses, ominous ambience and slowed-down melodicism. Following Fiedler's acclaimed score for Sound of Falling, Oblique finds Ghost Dubs developing an increasingly distinctive strain of heavyweight, hypnotic dub techno.
