Jeff Parker ETA IVtet - Happy Today

On Friday 15th May, we’re thrilled to be screening the Jeff Parker ETA IVTet ‘Happy Today’ session from when the album was recorded.

The screening will begin at 8pm, and entry is free. Copies of the record will be on sale with a very lovely band print to go with it, courtesy of our buds at International Anthem Recording Co.

Anything with Jeff Parker’s name or the International Anthem logo on is a guarantee of musical excellence, and this is obviously no exception.

We’ll be showing it on the big screen with the volume up, so come on down!

Happy Today is the third album from Jeff Parker’s ETA IVtet, recorded live at Lodge Room in Los Angeles. Featuring Parker alongside drummer Jay Bellerose, bassist Anna Butterss and saxophonist Josh Johnson, it captures the group’s distinct interplay beyond their original Highland Park base for the first time.

Built around long-form, minimalist improvisation, the IVtet’s patient, finely detailed approach unfolds across two extended pieces. Performed in the round and recorded direct to tape by engineer Bryce Gonzales, the session preserves both the clarity of the ensemble and the focused attention of the audience.

The result is a measured, immersive document of the group’s evolving language—expansive in scale but grounded in subtle shifts of tone, rhythm and space. A companion film by Charlie Weinmann presents the performance in full, extending the experience beyond the room itself.
