Following the success of their Brazilian take on Bill Withers’ ‘Lovely Day’, Studio Rio return with another inspired reworking, this time transforming Marvin Gaye’s timeless ‘Sexual Healing’. Masterminded by Grammy-winning producers the Berman Brothers, the project captures the spirit of Rio’s street parties, infusing Gaye’s 1982 classic with irresistible samba energy.

Recorded in Rio with a handpicked group of top-tier Brazilian musicians, the track features arrangement by Torcuato Mariano (Djavan, Gilberto Gil) and percussion and cavaquinho from Pretinho da Serrinha (Seu Jorge, Caetano Veloso). With access to the original multitrack tapes, the brothers were able to place Marvin’s original vocal within this fresh setting, creating the illusion it was always meant to sound this way.

The result is a breezy, sun-drenched remake where Gaye’s soulful delivery meets shuffling cavaquinho rhythms, samba percussion, and uplifting horns. Pressed to 45 for the first time, complete with an instrumental on the B-side, it’s a joyous, party-ready cut—equally perfect as a dancefloor spark or a blissful end-of-night closer.
