Max Richter’s While The Flood Rages grew from MaddAddam, his collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy. Moving through three acts, Richter brings together orchestral writing, electronics, processed field recordings, choir and piano. Ecological collapse and rapid technological change loom over the music, while recurring piano motifs offer more reflective passages amid its dense, cinematic arrangements.
