OUTER WORLDS JAZZ ENSEMBLE FEAT. CHIP WICKHAM - THE KÀRMÀN LINE

"Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble present The Kármán Line on ATA Records, a seven-track set inspired by the spiritual jazz of Yusef Lateef, Alice Coltrane and David Axelrod.

The project began after conversations between woodwind player Chip Wickham and ATA Records founder Neil Innes while touring Tokyo’s jazz kissas and record shops. Recorded to tape, the album moves between meditative textures and deeper grooves.

Wickham’s flute drifts over harp and impressionistic piano on ‘Karmen Cantala’ and ‘All Is’, while Steve Parry’s horn arrangements – including bassoon, French horn and tuba – add colour to the funkier ‘Low Orbit’. ‘Earthly Elements’ closes with a heavier, percussion-driven groove."
