Released in 1998, Pete Rock’s Soul Survivor was an early example of the hip-hop producer album, putting his unmistakable beats firmly at the centre. His soulful, sample-heavy production provides the foundation for an impressive guest list including Method Man, Big Pun, Common, Black Thought, Kurupt, Raekwon, Noreaga, Ghostface Killah, Prodigy and Large Professor. A defining showcase for one of hip-hop’s most influential producers.
