The new album by Richard Hawley, In This City They Call You Love is set for release on 31st May 2024 and sees Richard ditch the distortion pedals and go back into making voice most prominent.
First single, and album opener, 'Two For His Heels' sets the scene for Richard Hawley's return. A sparse, atmospheric and cinematic song about a deal that goes wrong...
The track is confirmed for a first play with Lauren Laverne on 6Music at 9:40am on launch date.

In This City They Call You Love features 12 outstanding songs, many of which can be described as 'vintage Hawley' and are amongst some of the finest ballads he's ever written. Gorgeous melodies and arrangements are accompanied by his emotive and sonorous voice, which sounds better than ever, and will make this a crowning moment in a hugely successful recording career of almost 25 years.

Since his last studio album, 2019's Further, there has been universal acclaim for Standing At The Sky's Edge, the Olivier award-winning musical based on his songs, originally developed in Sheffield before premiering at the Crucible Theatre in 2019, will now open at the Gillian Lynne theatre in the West End in February, following an acclaimed run at London’s National Theatre earlier this year.

Richard has also written two songs with Jarvis Cocker for the latest Wes Andersen film Asteroid City (2023), one of which, Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven), was shortlisted for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars.
