Scritti Politti’s 1988 third album Provision pushed analogue studio technology to its limits, with Green Gartside and David Gamson painstakingly assembling its polished art-pop from individual performances and tape edits. Roger Troutman adds Talkbox, Dan Huff contributes guitar, while Miles Davis plays trumpet on ‘Oh Patti (Don't Feel Sorry For Loverboy)’ after previously covering the band’s ‘Perfect Way’. ‘Boom! There She Was’, ‘Sugar And Spice’ and ‘Overnight’ further capture the album’s intricate production, bright synths and immaculate melodies. New sleeve notes from Gartside and Gamson tell the story of its ambitious creation.
