Skepta’s The Fork and Knife draws on the sounds and culture of contemporary Britain, moving between grime, garage, house, jungle and electronic music. Built on decades spent around sound systems, clubs and raves, the album puts Skepta’s rapping, writing and production at its centre. Its themes explore British and Nigerian identity, diaspora and life between cultures, presenting these influences as a source of creative strength. The album’s visual world takes cues from 1980s Nigerian-British imagery, football culture and documentary photography, linking earlier generations with present-day London.
