Still House Plants - Still House Plants

Still House Plants’ Still House Plants marks the first vinyl appearance of the group’s self-titled debut, originally released in an ultra-small run on Glasgow’s GLARC. Recorded and mixed direct to tape at Green Door Studios with Emily and Stu, the album documents the band at the very start of their journey, as summer 2016 began to unfold.

The recordings capture the quartet in an exploratory, instinctive phase, where ideas are stretched out and allowed to breathe. There’s a looseness to the performances that feels deliberate rather than unfinished, with repetition, space and subtle shifts doing much of the work. Rather than presenting a fully fixed identity, Still House Plants functions as a snapshot of a group discovering their shared language in real time.

Stripped of excess and grounded in the physicality of tape, the album stands as an early statement of intent, offering insight into the roots of a band whose later work would build on these foundations with increasing confidence and focus.
