Sugar - House of Dead Memories / Long Live Love

Formed in 1992 by Bob Mould, alongside David Barbe and Malcolm Travis, Sugar made an immediate impact with Copper Blue, a record whose combination of sharp hooks and blistering guitars became a touchstone for alternative rock in the 1990s. The intensity deepened with Beaster, while File Under: Easy Listening refined the band’s balance of melody and force, firmly establishing their reputation before they disbanded in 1995.

Now, thirty years on, Sugar have reconvened to reveal two newly recorded songs: ‘House of Dead Memories’ and ‘Long Live Love’. Both tracks channel the emotional directness and propulsion that defined the band’s original run, pairing muscular riffs with a renewed sense of focus and immediacy.

Rather than revisiting the past, these recordings underline Sugar’s enduring creative chemistry, drawing a clear line between their foundational work and a fresh burst of inspiration.
