Not to be confused with angry butterfingers Cardi B, the Danish duo Svaneborg Kardyb (the second Gondwana artist to feature this week) return with album number three, the terrific Over Tage. Drawing on Danish folk music and Scandinavian minimo-cine-jazz influences, including Nils Frahm, Esbjörn Svennson and Jan Johansson's landmark recording Jazz På Svenska, the instrumental, crystalline-yet-envelopingly warm Over Tage is the kind of album that begs to be listened to after climbing up a mountain at dawn and staring out over a fjord just as the sun breaks above the horizon. Despite being played with live instruments (and often virtuosically so), there is a strong electronica strain running through Over Tage, and more than once it reminded me of what a future Boards of Canada album might sound like if Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin ditched the machines. Stunning.
