Deluxe edition of the legendary concert film soundtrack to be released as a limited edition 2LP set and digitally with two previously unreleased songs.

The great American director Jonathan Demme, who passed away in 2017, was famous for a number of Hollywood classics, Philadelphia and The Silence of the Lambs among them; but before that he helmed what has been called by numerous critics the greatest concert film ever made – 1984’s Stop Making Sense. Many of course will say, ‘Hey dummy, what about Michael Wadleigh’s 1970 classic Woodstock, or Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz, documenting The Band’s last ever performance, and featuring a who’s who of guest artists, including Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters and Joni Mitchell. Well, I would say that the film is stunningly shot by Demme, Talking Heads play all of the hits (not to mention Tom Tom Club’s excellent ‘Genius of Love’) and sound incredible, it features Dave Byrne in the most remarkable, da da-esque suit of all time, and crucially, unlike The Last Waltz, it doesn’t feature a coked out of his gourd Van Morrison doing high kicks in the tightest of tight trousers (replete with a lace-up crotch, which, eeewwwww).

Anyway, to coincide with Demme’s film being rereleased in cinemas worldwide, for the very first time all of the tracks featured in the live performance are being released on vinyl, across two LPs, and the album also features two previously unreleased songs, and a reproduction of the original booklet that accompanied the truncated 1984 album. Stop Making Sense is a magnificent tribute to both Demme, and Talking Heads, perhaps the greatest art pop band of all time.
