The Clean - Great Sounds Great, Good Sounds Good, So-So Sounds So-So, Bad Sounds Bad, Rotten Sounds Rotten!!

Following 1981’s Boodle Boodle Boodle, The Clean took a more eclectic approach on 1982 EP Great Sounds Great. Recorded in Christchurch by Doug Hood and Chris Knox, it swaps much of its predecessor’s guitar rush for organ, sparse arrangements and some of the band’s more idiosyncratic material. Instrumental opener ‘Fish’ provides the main guitar workout, while ‘Beatnik’ became an enduring favourite after regular appearances on New Zealand television. Also reissued is the band’s 1982 ‘Getting Older’ single, making both releases available again after decades out of print.
