How do you improve on a seminal album like The Raincoats’ eponymous 1979 debut album? Add another ridiculously good song, of course – which this long-awaited re-issue benevolently offers with the addition of the legendary British experimental post-punk trio’s debut single, “Fairytale in the Supermarket”. Much is made of Kurt Cobain’s love of The Raincoats, formed in the late 70s by Ana Da Silva and Gina Birch, and it’s hard to overestimate just how good, just how influential this album is – just ask The Breeders, Wet Leg, Dry Cleaning, or Life Without Buildings.
