The Veils are back with Fragile World, recorded live to tape in New Zealand by Paddy Hill and produced by Tom Healy. Created in just a few weeks with minimal pre-planning, the album captures Finn Andrews and Healy building arrangements on the fly, with Joseph McCallum joining at points.
Where its predecessor leaned one way, Fragile World shifts the mood: direct, instinctive and at times bracing. Songs were taken into the studio with little fixed beyond their core, leaving space for spontaneity and snap decisions. The result feels immediate and unvarnished, shaped as much by risk as by design.
The title reflects both a wider sense of instability and the delicate process of making a record – countless small choices gradually forming a whole. It’s a set that thrives on tension and release, holding nerve without losing focus.
