The Yummy Fur - Everybody Talks About The Weather
Tax included.
The Yummy Fur release their first album of new material in more than 25 years with Everybody Talks About The Weather. Recorded by original members John McKeown, Brian MacDougall and Paul Thomson, the 10-song album distils the band's artful post-punk into a concise, unpredictable set.
Drawing on literature, film, myth and everyday life, the songs weave together dark humour, surreal storytelling and cryptic observations without sacrificing melody or momentum. References to Barbara Loden, Pablo Picasso, the Mitford sisters and Susan Sontag sit naturally alongside scenes from Glasgow life, creating songs that reward repeated listens.
Moving between taut post-punk, motorik rhythms and looming tension, Everybody Talks About The Weather embraces ambiguity rather than easy answers. Closing with the bleak 'King of Nothing' and the quietly hopeful 'Say Hello', it finds The Yummy Fur sounding as inventive, distinctive and vital as ever.
