Trá Pháidín are a fluid Irish collective whose music draws on traditional forms, free improvisation, jazz, folk and krautrock while exploring contemporary Gaelic culture. Their World of Echo debut, Cloch 's Claí (Stone & Wall), uses the symbolism of Ireland's dry-stone walls to examine the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and themes of tokenism, housing and rural politics. Inspired by Myles na gCopaleen's An Béal Bocht, its ten interconnected pieces evolve through improvisation, meaning every performance creates a different version of the work. Blending regional traditional styles with drone, minimalism, post-rock and free jazz, Cloch 's Claí is an inventive and quietly radical take on Irish folk traditions.
