Tristan Allen’s Osni the Flare forms the second chapter of a mythic trilogy, following a mortal’s transformation into deity through the discovery of fire. Built over four years, the album unfolds across four acts that trace the origins of flame and time itself, moving between tenderness, unease and glowing aftermath.
Sound and story are inseparable here. Wordless vocals, toy pianos, ocarinas, harmonium, pump organ, bass, music boxes and bells are carefully assembled into a world that feels intimate, human and faintly childlike. Where Tin Iso and The Dawn observed events from the vantage point of gods, Osni the Flare shifts focus to the first mortal in Allen’s universe, grounding the myth in vulnerability and wonder.
The narrative follows Osni, who awakens in a garden and sets out to protect a tree from winter. After loss and descent, Osni returns bearing embers; the tree ignites, fire is born, and through death Osni ascends as its deity. Piano opens and closes the album as a recurring sense of home, framing a journey across the living world, the in-between and the beyond.
Recorded almost entirely in Allen’s Brooklyn apartment, the album’s handmade textures and wordless melodies invite listeners to step inside the myth and inhabit it for themselves.
