VA / Soul Jazz Records Presents - Studio One Dub Vol.2

Studio One played a major role in the development of dub, and Studio One Dub Vol. 2 gathers some of the label’s finest 1970s productions. Many were mixed by Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd under his Dub Specialist alias, with engineers including Sylvan Morris, Syd Bucknor and Scientist also contributing to the studio’s sound. Drawn largely from the B-sides of rare Jamaican singles, these tracks feature stripped-back rhythms, echo, reverb and inventive studio effects. A reminder that Studio One was every bit as important to dub’s development as King Tubby or Lee Perry. Includes sleeve notes by Michael E. Veal.
