Soul Jazz Records present Soul Jamaica, a vibrant collection of reggae, funk and soul gems from the legendary Studio One vaults. Featuring classics from Jackie Mittoo, The Heptones, The Gladiators, Sim Smith, Peter Tosh and The Wailers, Cedric ‘Im’ Brooks and more, the set captures a brief but inspired period at the turn of the 1970s.<br>

Between the decline of rocksteady and the rise of roots reggae, Studio One issued a handful of stunning soul-infused singles, drawing inspiration from artists such as Sly & The Family Stone, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Nina Simone, Gene Chandler and Tyrone Davis. Originally pressed in small runs on Studio One’s UK imprint Bamboo, many of these tracks have long been near-impossible to find.<br>

The sleeve art draws on imagery from Air Jamaica, launched in the late 1960s, symbolising the nation’s growing global presence and reggae’s central role in shaping Jamaica’s cultural identity after independence.
