Leeds anthemic indie meets post-punk quartet Yard Act emerged during the pandemic as one of the UK’s sharpest and most inventive guitar bands, blending biting social commentary with restless, genre-shifting music. Following the Mercury Prize-nominated debut The Overload and the ambitious, Top Five-charting Where’s My Utopia?, they return with their most collaborative and emotionally expansive record yet. Written and recorded together as a live band for the first time, the album captures a group fully locked into their creative identity. Produced with Justin Meldal-Johnsen, it moves between ferocious dance-punk and disco grooves complete with left-field production textures while exploring fractured realities and modern disillusionment. Darkly funny, deeply reflective and bursting with energy, it’s Yard Act at their boldest, most human and most musically adventurous.
